University of Cambridge Hong Kong and China Affairs Society
"Reflections" Annual Youth Conference 2017
The Epoch: 20 Years Onwards**(Please scroll down for English version)**主題:

The Theme:
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover to China. In these 20 years Hong Kong has seen a great many transformations. As we see the society and the people so dear to our hearts being more divided, we seem to be standing in the crossroads of history, awaiting greater changes ahead. Some say the "Lion Rock Spirit" is dead as social upward mobility becomes a term that appears only on textbooks. Pan-democrats who are crucial for a healthy parliamentary democracy seem to be facing challenges with internal divisions and nebulous directions. Hong Kong, as it continues to integrate with the mainland, seems to pale in the face of rapid economic development in other Chinese cities.

Where do we go from here? On 19 August 2017, standing at the centre of the Epoch, we shall find out.
